We play with double on 8 and 9, triple on 10 and 11 and quadruple on 13, usually 10p a point. Obv if you can get out yourself with ease then you should just go for it. You have to recognise if the other two people are going to pay double or more if the person gaining control goes out with the next few cards, its far more profitable to try and check it and hope he goes out, especially if you have a weak hand and have no shot at really winning other than your shot at beating what he's laid. I think another important strategy is to not always beat what is laid when it is your turn. This is his last ditch attempt to get out with the next five or ten cards (two five carders, usually weakest first unless they are very strong hands).

But the truth behind it is he hasn't got bigger cards. They usually try to lay it quickly and confidently as if they don't mind losing it, so he's trying to fool you into thinking he's got bigger singles back and if you lay higher he will just lay higher than that still. Whereas without position you can't see things so clearly, you don't know his intentions.Īnother thing to watch for is if someone lays a suspiciously high card, looking like they're trying to gain control, especially if it leaves them with 10 or 5 cards. If you can see someone on your left lay 7 cards and they got control and lead with a big single, generally that means they have the big 2 and will go down on their next lay (deuce and out), so if you know that you should put your highest card to block others going down.

Pop the big deuce when its the nuts and boom! Five cards and out. For instance when you have a bad hand you want to go down with as much cards as possible to minimise losses, but when you have a good starting hand you hold back the five carders and go singles til you get down to 6.
